During our August meeting, we were blessed with several visitors and three eloquent speakers who provided loads of information to prepare us for not only the ACFW national conference, but other writers’ conferences as well.
Will Ramirez, who provides our meeting place at the church he pastors, Calvary Lighthouse in Longwood, Florida, gave an enlightening talk entitled “Poised for Conference,” what to expect there, and urged writers to “cultivate tenacity” in their writing journey.
Writing Coach, Kristen Stieffel, provided many invaluable tips on how to promote ourselves and our work at conference, including business cards, pitch sheets, proposals, manuscript formatting and submission tips.
Our guest speaker, Edwina Perkins, is a teacher, writer, missionary, speaker, and president of Word Weavers Orlando chapter. During her informative and easy-to-understand presentation, she instructed participants on preparing an “elevator pitch.” Following practice in constructing the pitches, attendees then gave their pitches to each other over lunch.

…and a good time was had by all. 🙂
It was a great event! I was so pleased to see both Word Weavers and ACFW folks there. 🙂
Really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Great pictures, too.
